A review of County Durham’s licensing policy has been put out for consultation.
Durham County Council is reviewing its Statement of Licensing and seeking views on the existing one. The current policy, which was published in 2014, expires this year and in order for the council to fulfil its statutory obligations it needs to adopt a new policy before the end of October.
A public consultation will run for 12 weeks, until Friday, 3 May. During this period, statutory consultees, individuals, agencies and organisations that may be affected by the policy, are invited to comment.
The policy is there to provide advice to businesses and the public on the council’s overall position concerning the Licensing Act 2003. It also creates the basis of the decision-making framework for the council’s licensing committee.
